Theatre Arts Overview

The Department of Theatre Arts at The School of Arts + Enterprise is a premier training program for students who are interested in acting, musical theatre, directing, technical theatre & design, live event management and other related skills. The School of Arts + Enterprise has a decade-long history of staging professional quality productions, and each year we offer up to 10 Broadway quality musicals, modern plays, improv, Shakespeare and more. Theatre Arts students enjoy hands-on opportunities to grow both in the classroom and during our busy production seasons, through a diverse, college-level curriculum that is taught by fully credentialed, industry-based faculty.

Middle School Theatre

6th – 8th grade students are exposed to all aspects of the stage, along with unique performance opportunities.

Theatre Arts Major

9th – 12th grade students with a Theatre Arts Major receive dynamic pre-professional training in a preparation for a career on stage or behind the scenes.

Live Event Arts Dual Major

Students within the Live Event Dual Major are offered a hands on experience in design, management and production operations for the stage.

Department Leadership

Miguel Cardenas | Head of Theatre Arts

Miguel has been a working theatre professional for the past 18 years and a teaching artist/teacher for the past 15. After making the transition from actor to director/choreographer, Miguel has won and been nominated for many awards, including 2023 Outstanding Choreography from the OCTG.

Miguel has always worked diligently to ensure the creation of safe, fun, creative, and equitable environments for his students, cast members, and co-workers alike and looks forward to continuing this work while working to prepare the next generations for the professional theatrical world.
