Get to Know The SAE: Alyssa Corella

At The School of Arts and Enterprise, our tuition-free charter school is known for inspiring young artists and launching professional careers in the arts. Wondering what it’s like to attend the SAE, and the impact it can have on a graduate? We recently asked alumna Alyssa Corella to describe her experiences - and here’s what she had to say!

When did you attend The SAE and why did you choose our school?

I attended The SAE from 2012-2015 (Sophomore - Senior Year) and I had been home schooled up until that point. The SAE was the first public school I ever attended and I decided to enroll because I knew I wanted to go into the arts for college.

What advice would you give to a student considering The SAE?

Take EVERY opportunity and learn and engage as much as you can. There is going to be a time where you want all this knowledge, but you're going to have to pay for it. At The SAE you get FREE education and learning in the arts that you love with professionals who really know what they are doing because they have all worked in the industry prior to working at The SAE.

Do you have a favorite memory from your time here?

I always loved bringing a blanket to put on the grass during lunch and having picnics with my friends under the trees. It was one of my favorite things to do. Along with the many, MANY hours in the theatre - creating and pursuing the things I loved.

What are you working on today?

I'm a working actor in the industry! I went to UC Irvine following The SAE, and I got my degree in Theatre with Honors in Acting and Honors in Musical Theatre. I still work at The SAE as a part time Substitute Teacher for any and all Arts Classes. I help keep curriculum going even when the teachers are out of the classroom. It is the perfect flexible job for me while I am following my dream.

Are you ready to start your own future at The SAE? There’s still time to enroll! Visit our website to fill out a brief enrollment inquiry form and we’ll contact you to set up a tour. We can’t wait to meet you at The SAE!
