Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Short-Term Independent Study for Attendance Recovery and Long-Term Independent Study?2026-09-23T10:53:10-07:00

Short-term Independent Study is intended to help students recover their attendance when they miss a day of school. Students have varying reasons for making up their attendance, but most of the time it is for activities eligibility or to maintain perfect attendance.

Long-term Independent Study is intended to replace in-person instruction for students who need to step away from school for an extended period of time. When students transition to a long-term option, they are not able to switch back until the start of a new semester.

Looking for a long-term change?

Requests longer than 15 days require enrollment in our Hybrid Learning or Long-Term Independent Study programs.
