Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to do real creative work – not just for a grade, but for an actual client? To see your design on something that matters, or build a portfolio that shows the world what you’re capable of? At The School of Arts and Enterprise, that’s not a dream – it’s just another Tuesday.
What Is Studio 264?
Studio 264 is a fully functioning creative agency – run by students, for real clients. It’s designed specifically for students in our graphic design and photography pathways, and it’s where classroom learning meets real-world experience.
Here’s what that actually looks like: you work with real clients, take on professional-level projects, and build a portfolio that speaks for itself. This isn’t practice. This is the real thing.
More Than a Class
A lot of schools teach you about the creative industry. Studio 264 puts you inside it.
Inside the studio, you’ll learn how to meet deadlines, collaborate with a team, manage creative projects from start to finish, and actually see your work come to life. You’ll connect with local artists, alumni, and industry professionals who know what it takes to make it in the creative economy – and they’re here to help you get there. It’s a professional environment, designed for students who are ready to be treated like the creative professionals they already are.
Studio 264 is also a real brick-and-mortar storefront in the community. Students design and sell original SAE merchandise right from the studio during business hours – and these aren’t generic designs. One student recently created a t-shirt inspired by Immersive, one of our dance productions, capturing the energy of the performance in a way only someone who lived it could. We sold the shirt at cost, because the point was never profit – it was about a student seeing their creative vision out in the world, on something real.
As Artistic Director Rob Shields says: “The launch of Studio 264 is a celebration of the creativity, perseverance, and vision of our students, faculty, and community partners. It is a promise to our young artists: your voice matters, your creativity has value, and your art belongs in the heart of Pomona.”
Why It Matters
The creative economy is shaping our world. Graphic designers, photographers, brand strategists, content creators – these aren’t just careers, they’re the future. And the students who graduate with real experience, a strong portfolio, and professional skills are the ones who hit the ground running.
Come See It for Yourself
If you’re a creative person ready to take your skills beyond the classroom, we want to meet you. Our audition-free, tuition-free school is open to students in grades 6-12, and Studio 264 is just one of the incredible opportunities waiting for you here.
