August 12 is the first day of school at The School of Arts and Enterprise. For some of you, that means reuniting with friends and teachers that you know and love. For others, it means the first step into a new school experience.  Either way, we want you to enjoy your time at The SAE. So here are 4 ways to make your switch to a new school a success!

Starting at a new school can feel overwhelming, but here’s something that might surprise you – everyone at The SAE genuinely wants you to feel welcome. Our close-knit community of only 675 students across seven grades means you’ll quickly become a familiar face. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek help – we’re here to support you in all of your goals.

Join Something That Excites You

One of the fastest ways to make friends and feel at home is to get involved in activities that match your interests. At The SAE, you have incredible opportunities to explore your passions through our Wednesday Afternoon Arts programs, which offer 15 different artistic disciplines. Whether you’re drawn to dance, music, visual arts, theater, or something completely new, we’ll connect you with other students in your major who share your creative energy. 

Give Yourself Time to Adjust

Remember that feeling at home in a new place doesn’t happen overnight – and that’s completely normal.  It might take a few weeks to learn where your classes are, figure out the best spots to hang out, and discover which teachers have the same sense of humor as you. Be patient and give yourself time to figure it out. 

Embrace What Makes You Unique

At The SAE, we celebrate differences and encourage self-expression. Whatever makes you unique – your background, your artistic style, your perspective on the world – is exactly what our community needs.
