What Does “Enterprise” Really Mean?
When you think of The School of Arts and Enterprise, you may think of nationally-recognized performing arts and visual arts programs, inspired students and teachers, or simply a creative place to spend middle school and high school, tuition-free.
But arts education is only part of what we do! At “The School of Arts and Enterprise”, we are so dedicated to “enterprise” that we include it in our name. So what does “enterprise” mean, and how does it impact our students? We’re glad you asked!
The “Business” of Art
At The SAE, we help every student chart a path for success in the arts. But finding your creative voice is only one step on that journey. You’re also going to have to pay your rent. We are rooted in ensuring that our student artists learn how to monetize their art. Our teachers bring first-hand industry experience to their classrooms, and guest-lecturers share insider knowledge that can be invaluable for young artists.
Beyond Technique
The SAE’s 7 Art Majors and 5 Dual Majors programs offer rigorous arts education in a variety of disciplines. But they go beyond technical skill development. Each of our majors also include curriculum around career development and higher education opportunities. From mentorships to conservatory and college admissions visits to networking with industry experts, we ensure that every student has exposure to the options available to them in the majors of their choice.
Skill Building
Richard Branson (CEO, Virgin) says “The best way of learning about anything is by doing.” When it comes to the business of art - we agree! Our students work hands-on both on stage and behind the scenes, in recording studios, and in gallery spaces. They gain valuable technical experience in production and promotion - skills that are sought after by employers.
Finding Your Future
It may come as no surprise that the arts industry is rapidly changing and evolving. The steps required to enter creative careers are as varied as the people who choose them. At The SAE, our student artists learn about the many careers that are available to them in the arts, as well as other ways that they can find gainful employment in the 21st century creative economy. We work with each student to get and stay on track with their goals after graduation - and we stay in touch with our alumni to celebrate their successes!
These are just some of the ways that The School of Arts and Enterprise serves students with top-notch enterprise education that ensures that they are successful in whatever careers they choose. Are you interested in learning more? Contact us and enroll today.
