At The School of Arts and Enterprise, we are committed to supporting all of our students with skills that they can take with them after graduation. SAE graduates are equipped with portfolios, mentorship experiences, and a solid academic foundation that sets them up for success in whatever next steps they choose – including university programs, industry careers, and jobs outside of the arts.

Our “Majors” are a unique component of The SAE experience – and a big part of student identity here on campus. Majors ensure that you have the skills and training you need to succeed. Ready to learn more? Here’s an overview in three easy steps!

Step 1: Discover Your Passion

Middle school at the SAE offers time and opportunities for students to explore artistic interests. The choice is yours!

  • 6th grade students enroll in Integrated Arts, a course that introduces them to the many artistic programs at The SAE.
  • Middle School Arts Pathways enable students to explore a variety of arts courses and discover their passions and abilities.
  • Some students choose to focus on one pathway in middle school, others take a variety of courses from options that include Dance, Music – Instrumental, Music – Vocal, Theatre Arts and Visual Arts.

Step 2: Choose Your Major

Students in grades 9-12 choose an area to focus on during their high school years. They select a 4-year course of study from 7 majors and 5 dual majors:

  • Our Department of Creative Arts offers a Graphic Design Major and a Photography Major, as well as a Dual Major in AMOCA Ceramic Workshop.
  • Our Department of Dance offers a Dance Major as well as a Dual Major in Dance Education.
  • Our Department of Music offers an Instrumental Music Major and Vocal Music Major as well as a Dual Major in Recording Technology.
  • Our Department of Theatre Arts offers a Theatre Arts Major and a Dual Major in Live Event Management or Musical Theatre.
  • Our Department of Visual Arts offers a Visual Arts Major and a Dual Major in AMOCA Ceramic Workshop.

Step 3: Dive In!

Once you select your Major, you’ll spend the next four years focusing on your artistic and academic growth.

  • SAE faculty are industry-connected, bringing real world experience directly into our classrooms.
  • Rigorous portfolio reviews, master classes, mentorships, and pre-professional experiences inspire our students to prepare for their next steps after graduation.
  • We give students time during school to finish homework so after-school hours are reserved for tutoring, rehearsals and dual major course work.
